Getting started in Blogger

  1. Go to www.blogger.com and log into your Google account.
  2. You now see your Blogger home page, which contains a list of your blogs and any blogs you have added to a Reading List (to be addressed another post). Right now, your list of blogs will be empty, as shown below:
  3. Click the New Blog button on the left side of the screen.
  4. Now the fun part - get creative and come up with a name for your blog and a corresponding web address for it. The trick is that the web address must be unique. As you type, Blogger will notify you if an address is unavailable.
  5. In the same window (above), select a template to get you started. You can customize the appearance of your blog in great detail later.
  6. Click the "Create blog!" button and you will be taken back to your Blogger home page, but with a couple changes (circled in color below):
  7. Now you can explore the various options given:
To explore your blog Overview page, click your blog title (circled in purple above). This page shows you traffic on your blog (viewers, comments, followers, etc.) and shows you the full menu of options for editing and managing your blog (also available via the drop down menu circled in blue above
If you want to dive into composing a post right away, click the orange button (circled in red above).
To see what the public sees in all its finished, published glory, click "View blog" (circled in green above).
Next, check out the Composing in Blogger page to write your first blog post.
